The diaTribe Vault

This is a selection from our archive of poetry, each written by a member of the diaTribe, and published here on the diaTribe Web by PM Productions.  This is a bold move on the part of our contributing authors, each of whom are publishing their work gratis, each of whom you may contact via an email address following their respective submission.  Support them by telling them what you think - or, at the very least, don't nick their stuff.

First

This, though maybe the last
Is also the first
First call for a fleeting memory
First, a second fleeting, to last
Through the second part of my life
Which first started
The second you said good-bye
What I thought would last...should last
Laid down too soon, head-first
Second effort not seconded

The cut came first
Our tempers cursed
And removed your thirst
For a second burst
   Of me

The last light of my day
Lasted only a second
As I passed you driving
Past me driving
To the first course
Of our last supper
Even that
   I am denied.
Where were you?
   The cold wins.
