Lights
In love with loving, we our loving lost To red-faced Hippocrene. Our course once shined 'Gainst brittle lights no nights unlit have crossed, But rushing rude denial, we declined. So through a thrashing ocean we made way T'ward ruthless shoals and shards that lay ahead. 'Gainst brittle lights, no nights unlit could stay Immune to bitter barbs we both had bred. Still, in a promised future, might we dance And cling to vows once promised, heart to heart? 'Gainst brittle lights, all nights unlit will chance To force this love to end, so near the start. My love, preserve our fragile love-lit room 'Gainst brittle lights, that love might lead us home.
